猫にとって爪研ぎは、カーペットの上など、爪がひっかかりやすい個所でも安全に動けるように、伸び過ぎた爪をケアする意味もあります。

そして、爪とぎをすることで肉球からの臭腺のニオイをつけ、自分の縄張りを主張しているのだそうです。

また跡に残った爪跡にも縄張りを主張する意味があり、そのため、壁や柱など垂直なもので爪とぎをするときは、できるだけ背伸びをして高い位置にマーキングし「自分は大きいんだぞ。ケンカだって強いんだぞ」とアピールします。

さらに、来客などでストレスを感じたときや、寝起きなどに、気分を切り替えるために爪とぎをすることも。

遊んでいてうまくいかないときなどに、突然爪とぎを始めるのも、気分を変えて気持ちを落ち着かせるために行っていると考えられます。

来客時のストレスを少しでも減らすためには、お客様が来たときにひとり(一匹)になれる空間をつくってあげること。押し入れやベッドの下など、隠れられる場所があるといいですね。

Air freight: If the arrival notice exceeds seven days and the status of the goods is not confirmed, a customer complaint will occur and the seller will not be able to report it.
